In The Daily Astorian editorial, “Barack Obama for president” (Oct. 18), Obama is touted as a “center left Republican,” and not a socialist. Obama is not a “center left Republican,” he is an extremely left of center Democrat. He has literally sat at the feet of Marxists and Maoists while being mentored.
Obama is a secretive president, with many of his personal records remaining sealed, including college records. He has exclaimed to Romney, “Show us all your tax returns.” Romney should retort, “Show us all your personal records including college transcripts.” I am afraid that Obama is like an iceberg, most of which is out of sight and cannot be viewed.
I wonder if those supporting Obama are still picturing his 2008 speeches in their minds, rather than paying attention to what is going on around them. To use a military phrase, under Obama’s watch the economy has gotten worse. Just look around and you can see how hard times are. I am shocked as even more local businesses are being closed or go bankrupt.
Obama repeatedly has his own live microphone incidents where he has been observed indiscreetly making deals with or disparaging comments about world leaders. The Arab Spring as turned into an Arab nightmare.
Three days after the assassination of our Libyan ambassador in Benghazi, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, “These protests were in reaction to a video. We have no information that would suggest it was a preplanned attack.” Since then, Obama’s administration has thrown its own intelligence and state department workers under the bus. I guess the “buck” doesn’t stop with the president any more.
Mitt Romney on the other hand, is very transparent but he doesn’t toot his own horn. I admit there are abundant negative portrayals of Romney everywhere you look, especially from Obama’s campaign, which either magnify insignificant flaws or are out-and-out distortions of reality. Most of what is good about the man can be easily observed by spending some time with him. Many have done just that and have come away amazed at the genuineness they saw.
Romney has been a leader and pastor in his own church and demonstrates he is a man high character. Obama though, attended the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s church for 20 years. We have all heard excerpts from those frightening sermons. Where is Rev. Wright now? The two are not even on good speaking terms.
Obama had no comeback for Romney in the first presidential debate, where he smiled when Romney shredded his record of accomplishments. That night we saw a little of the real Obama, caught off guard, not prepared, just like his performance of the last four years.
